This page explains what happens to your information when you contact TradesWeb or use this website. It is written in plain English, because there is no reason for it not to be.
TradesWeb is a sole trader business run by Jacek Rudnicki, trading as TradesWeb. Address: Flat 1, Upland Court, Upland Park Road, Oxford OX2 7SJ. Email: hello@tradesweb.co.uk.
I am the data controller for the information described on this page. That means I decide what is collected and what happens to it, and I am the person responsible if something goes wrong.
When you use the contact form, I collect your name, your email address, your phone number if you give one, and whatever you write in the message box. Nothing else. When you email, call, or message me on WhatsApp, I have whatever you chose to send me, and in the case of WhatsApp your phone number and profile name.
When you visit the site, my hosting provider records standard technical information such as your IP address, browser type, and which pages were requested. This is how every website works, and it is needed to serve you the page and keep the site secure.
I do not run advertising trackers on this site. I do not buy lists, and I do not sell, rent, or share your details with anyone for marketing.
To reply to your enquiry. If you fill in the form asking about a website, I use your details to get back to you and discuss the job. Where you are asking about work, the legal basis is that this is a step taken at your request before entering into a contract. Where your message is a general question, the legal basis is my legitimate interest in responding to people who contact my business.
To do the work, if you become a client. Your details are used to deliver the website and to invoice you. The legal basis is performance of our contract. Invoices and related financial records are kept because I am legally required to keep them.
I will not add you to a mailing list because you sent an enquiry. If I ever start a newsletter, you would have to ask to join it.
Enquiries that do not become work are kept for 24 months, so I have context if you come back, and then deleted. Client records are kept for 7 years after our last piece of work together, because HMRC requires business records to be retained. Server logs are kept for the short rolling period set by my hosting provider.
If you would like your enquiry deleted sooner than that, just ask.
Webflow hosts this website and stores contact form submissions. Webflow Inc. is based in the United States, so your form submission is transferred outside the UK. Transfers of this kind are covered by the safeguards in UK data protection law, and Webflow publishes its own privacy terms.
My email provider holds any correspondence between us, in the ordinary way email works. If you contact me on WhatsApp, your phone number and messages are handled by WhatsApp, which is part of Meta, under their own terms. My accountant and HMRC see invoices and financial records where the law requires it. Nobody else. There is no marketing agency and no lead-selling arrangement. If that ever changes, this page changes first.
This site uses only the small number of cookies Webflow sets in order to serve the pages and keep the site working. There are no advertising cookies, no social media pixels, and no analytics profiling. If I add analytics in future, this page will be updated and you will be asked for consent first, because that is what the rules require.
Under UK data protection law you have the right to ask what I hold about you and get a copy, to have mistakes corrected, to have your information deleted where there is no legal reason for me to keep it, to restrict what I do with it while a concern is being sorted out, to object to me using it where I am relying on legitimate interests, and to receive it in a portable format where that applies.

If you are not happy with how I have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office. Their helpline is 0303 123 1113 and their website is ico.org.uk. You are welcome to raise it with me first, but you do not have to.
If this policy changes, the date below changes with it. Material changes will be obvious rather than buried. If anything here is unclear, or you want to know exactly what I hold about you, email me and ask. You will get a straight answer.
